DescriptionNataté Voluntariado Internacional A.C. is a registered non profit, non governmental and non religious organization based in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Founded in 2006, Nataté means The Tree House in Tsotsil and Tseltal, the Mayan languages most spoken in the Chiapas highlands. Nataté cooperates with local, national and international partners in order to address the needs of the local communities and groups it works with. It is also a member of the following international networks: International Service Civil (SCI), Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organizations, and the Coordination Committee for International Voluntary Service - UNESCO (CCIVS). Its mission is to contribute to society through a national and international volunteering service that supports local activities related to sustainable development, promotion of intercultural and environmental awareness, international solidarity, cultural and natural heritage preservation, support to marginalized groups and vulnerable minorities, and non-formal education for young people and for the general public. The main line of work of Nataté is carried out by volunteers both through work camps and a medium and long term volunteering service. Work camps relate to two week projects with a specific purpose; medium and long term volunteering involves a minimum stay of one month up to a year. More information is available at www.natate.org.mx Volunteering is not an activity, it is a way of life, a way of acting!
