The Aguaytia branch of the Brigade of Bolivarian Volunteers of Peru invites you to participate as a volunteer to reinforce the activities of the Center for Integral Family Development (Cedif), a unit of the National Integral Program for Wellbeing Familiar (INABIF), where children, adolescents and seniors are assisted. The social work done by this structure, even if little known by the population, is very important for the community. These spaces provide specialized services aimed at strengthening families, the promotion of respectful and caring family relationships and the integral development of its members.
The project aims to work with children and adults, who are a fundamental link of the integral development of our society. We hope to strenghten food security and care of the environment through the installation of BIOHUERTOS (organic orchards), which is an efficient and sustainable alternative to protect the environment and generate our own food supplies without using synthetic chemicals to control pests or fertilize the land, as well as avoiding the use of plastic bags used for package. Also, through this activity, children are taught the importance of environmental care and how to grow food in urban spaces.
The organic agricultural approach that used during this project is the Biogarden. Its agroecological production does not harm the soil or the environment, on the contrary it assures the long term productivity of the soil, fixing nutrients and absorbing only what is necessary. The control of pests and diseases is assured in a biological way, that allows achieving a natural balance in the environment, without producing toxicity or totally eliminating species, and also improves feeding with the consumption of fresh and healthy vegetables.
We welcome volunteers to be part of this program and participate in the installation activities of Bio-gardens and environmental care activities.

Work And Activities

Perform integration activities with the center users through the installation of Biogarden and sensitize them to environmental care through the organization of workshops.
Biogarden: our city has been blessed with productive soils, so in this activity the volunteers will install small Biogarden in the center. This activity will involve children, seniors and the volunteers who will be provided with seeds and compost in order to grow all types of vegetables, aromatic and medicinal herbs
You will install 3 Biogardens of the sizes 3 meters by 10 meters, the qualities of vegetables that will be plant are: tomato, caigua, cabbage, spices, peppers, aromatic and medicinal plants, fruits like banana, annona, pineapple, zapote, caimito and guaba.
Environmental workshops: the volunteers will organize workshops and learning sessions in order to sensitize the center users. The activities will be carried out with the center staff and the volunteers will be supported in developing a dynamic methodology among the children.
These talks will include theater activities related with the topics of care of the environment. At the end of this workamp, the talks and the plays will be disseminated through the radio and television, in local media, to raise awareness about the respect of the environment.

Accommodation And Food

The workcamp will take place in the City of Aguaytía. You will be accommodated in family houses where you can experience the local way of living, as one of the family. You can share regional foods and exchange experiences. Family homes have water and electricity services, a room with bed and mattress. The rooms will be shared and you will be in charge of the cleaning. Do not forget to bring traditional, typical foods, drinks and recipes from your country of origin for the international evening that we will do together with the local volunteers.
A small detail, we remind you that Aguaytia is located in the jungle and therefore it is normal to find insects in the field or in other environments. Inform us if you are allergic to any insect or food in advance. Also, inform us what kind of diet you have to prevent any inconvenience.
