The city of Saint-Peray localeted in Ardèche, on the top of Valence and permisses to have large panorama on the Mounts Vercors, the Mount Ardèche and the Rhône Valley from the majestic Crussol’s Castle. This fortress, standing on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Rhone valley, controlled a communication route very popular since ancient times. The cities community around the Castle wishes to create a dynamic of exchanges during the summer period on the commune while participating in the restoration of the built inheritance. The community of municipalities is asking Jeunesse et Reconstruction to run a project this year.

Work And Activities

The international volunteers will work for 3 weeks alongside, if possible, teenagers from the town to participate in the renovation of built heritage located near the castle. The rehabilitation of a medieval house according to the patrimonies’s rules will contribute to the preservation and enhancement of this important site of the region.

Accommodation And Food

You will be hosted in Office Information house, the ground floor on mattresses. You will have a living room at your disposal or you will have the necessary to make your own meals together. The place of life is 10 minutes walk from the workplace. We can not take care of you if you arrive before the start date of construction

1/ Access to the castle is by foot (10 minute) from the place where you will live, watch out for your travel bags - prefer a backpack ! 2/No special knowledge or competence is required for this camp, except being motivated, curious and loving work in group! . 4/ Our association does not provide a car during the workcamp. 5/ European volunteers should bring their European health care card, and everybody must, in any case, BRING THEIR INSURANCE CERTIFICATE. If health issues on the camp, the volunteers will have to pay for it, and then get reimbursed once back in the home country. 6/ Do not forget to bring : a sleeping bag, warm clothes (a sweater and rain-coat), a bathing suit. For male volunteers : short pants are generally prohibited in the public swimming pools in France, please bring a bathing suit. For work : worn out clothes and strong shoes. Your games, songbooks, cassettes, musical instruments and recipes, will be also welcome! To make exchanges and encounters easier, please also bring photographs of your home, some postcards, small gifts. 7/ If you have your driving licence, please, take it with you (may be useful in some areas).
